CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police arrested the suspect in the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man in Hermosa, Bataan, less than 15 hours after the crime, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) said Sunday.
The shooting occurred on 26 June in Barangay Culis, Hermosa. Police immediately launched follow-up operations and tracked the suspect to Barangay San Juan in San Fernando City, Pampanga, where he was arrested the next day.
Authorities recovered a loaded .30-caliber U.S. Carbine rifle and the white passenger van allegedly used in the killing. The suspect and the seized items were brought to the Hermosa Municipal Police Station for documentation and case buildup.
A murder complaint is being prepared for filing before the appropriate court.
PRO-3 Director Brig. Gen. Jesus Mendez said the arrest underscores the police's commitment to pursuing fugitives.
"Criminals should know that no matter how far they run, the law will catch up with them. Every offender must be held accountable, and victims deserve justice," Mendez said.
PRO-3 said the arrest was made through coordinated operations between police units in Bataan and Pampanga.
