Daily Tribune publishes news and opinion in the public interest. These standards explain how we correct the record, how we expect ourselves to behave as journalists, and how we approach diversity and inclusion in our coverage and newsroom.
Corrections & clarifications
Accuracy is non-negotiable. When we publish a factual error, we correct it promptly and transparently.
- Significant errors of fact are corrected on the article page with a dated note describing what changed.
- Clarifications are issued when wording was accurate but incomplete or open to misreading.
- Readers may request a review by emailing news@tribune.net.ph with the article URL, the alleged error, and supporting evidence.
Ethics & independence
Daily Tribune journalists pursue stories without fear or favor. We do not invent quotes, fabricate sources, or plagiarize. Opinion and advertising are labeled so readers can distinguish news reporting from commentary and commercial content.
- Conflicts of interest are disclosed to editors; reporters avoid covering matters where personal interests would compromise judgment.
- Anonymous sources are used sparingly and only when the information is material, independently corroborated where possible, and naming the source would risk harm or chill future reporting.
- We do not pay for news interviews. Gifts of more than nominal value are declined or disclosed to editors.
Diversity & inclusion
The Philippines is plural — in language, faith, region, class, and identity. Our reporting should reflect that reality.
- We seek sources beyond the usual official voices, including communities outside Metro Manila when the story warrants.
- We avoid stereotypes and coded language that demean people or groups.
- Feedback on coverage gaps or harmful portrayals may be sent to news@tribune.net.ph.
