The Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division has unveiled a mobile medical laboratory van designed to bring diagnostic services closer to troops, their dependents and communities within its area of responsibility.

The 8ID said Monday the mobile unit is equipped with a digital X-ray machine, portable ultrasound device and laboratory equipment capable of conducting complete blood count, blood chemistry tests and urinalysis.

The van also has its own generator set, allowing medical teams to operate even in remote or challenging areas.

According to the division, the mobile laboratory will support annual physical examinations, physical medical examinations and other medical missions across its operational area.

The 8ID said bringing diagnostic services directly to units and communities would reduce reliance on fixed medical facilities and allow patients to receive medical services more quickly.

“It allows us to deliver timely, reliable diagnostic support wherever our personnel and their families are, reinforcing the readiness of our forces and the well-being of the communities within our area of responsibility,” the 8ID said in a statement.

The division added that the initiative forms part of efforts to improve the welfare of its personnel while supporting operational readiness through accessible healthcare services.
