But we acknowledge we have a long way to go, and we are working hard to ensure that every Filipino community that welcomes tourists reaps the benefits through better jobs, better livelihoods, and a better quality of life,” Angara-Mathay said.
Sustainability recorded the Philippines’ biggest improvement, with its ranking rising from 64th to 29th. The increase was supported by stronger scores in nature protection and wastewater treatment. The country also ranked second globally in the Travel and Tourism Demand Sustainability pillar, helped by a significant improvement in geographically dispersed tourism.
