Ilocos Norte Second District Rep. Angelo Marcos Barba met with Philippine Consul General Arman Talbo to discuss possible programs and closer coordination for Ilokanos living in Hawaii, including expanded consular services, education, and livelihood initiatives.

According to Barba’s office, the meeting focused on strengthening engagement with Hawaii-based Filipinos who trace their roots to Ilocos Norte. Among the proposals discussed were diaspora investment opportunities, skills training linkages, cultural exchange programs, and assistance for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.

Barba said the goal is to ensure that Ilokanos in Hawaii remain connected to their home province while receiving government support.

“Our kababayans in Hawaii are part of the Ilocos Norte family. With Consul General Talbo, we are working to make sure their voices are heard, their needs are addressed, and their ties to home remain strong,” Barba said.

Talbo, meanwhile, said the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu is prepared to work with provincial leaders in delivering programs and services to the Filipino community in Hawaii.

The two officials also discussed cooperation on education, cultural preservation, and livelihood programs, according to the statement.
