Even when logic says it’s time to let go, the heart often chooses a different path. That emotional conflict takes center stage in Ice Seguerra’s newest single, “Sa’yo Bumabalik,” a deeply reflective ballad that has quickly resonated with listeners, garnering more than 25,000 streams just days after its release.
The track is the latest offering from Ice’s forthcoming EP, Tamang Panahon, and showcases the singer-songwriter’s signature ability to transform life’s quietest emotions into songs that linger long after the music ends.
Adding another layer of intimacy to the project is Ice’s collaboration with wife Liza Diño, who penned the lyrics before joining Ice in composing the music. Their creative partnership has previously produced fan favorites, but this latest song carries an especially personal touch.
Diño revealed that the inspiration behind the lyrics came from imagining how Ice himself would express his emotions.
“It’s funny how this song came about because I kept asking myself: Kung si Ice ang susulat ng kanta para sa akin, ano kaya ang sasabihin niya? Since he didn’t write the lyrics, I did the next best thing. I became dramatic on his behalf.”
She added that the process became both an artistic challenge and a heartfelt gesture.
“I tried to imagine what he would feel and what kind of song he would write if it were coming from him. I wanted him to sing something that felt honest in his voice, even if the words came from me. So it was part wife privilege, part songwriter experiment, but mostly love.”
The result is a song that doesn’t offer simple answers about love. Instead, it dwells in the uncomfortable space between moving on and holding on—where emotions refuse to follow reason and memories continue pulling someone back to a relationship that may no longer be possible.
Rather than celebrating romance, “Sa’yo Bumabalik” embraces vulnerability. It tells the story of someone caught between what they know is right and what their heart continues to choose, making it one of Ice’s most emotionally nuanced recordings in recent years.
The single also reinforces the central theme of Tamang Panahon, an upcoming collection that reflects on love, timing, healing, and the seasons people go through in life and relationships.
With its understated production, heartfelt storytelling, and sincere vocal delivery, “Sa’yo Bumabalik” serves as another reminder of why Ice Seguerra remains one of OPM’s most respected storytellers—an artist whose songs connect not through grand gestures, but through emotions that feel unmistakably real.
