Reigning Miss Philippines Earth Joy Barcoma shared an emotional farewell message as she prepared to pass on her crown, revealing that she would not be having the traditional farewell walk during the coronation night.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Barcoma reflected on her reign with gratitude, saying her greatest achievement was making every opportunity count throughout her time as Earth Queen.
“As my reign comes to a close, I choose gratitude above everything else,” she wrote, thanking everyone who believed in and supported her journey from the very beginning.
The beauty queen said she remained committed to her advocacy throughout her reign, explaining that she never waited for opportunities to come to her but actively sought ways to serve and leave the title stronger than when she received it.
Barcoma also acknowledged that her journey was not always easy, admitting that support did not always come from every corner. Despite the challenges, she said she chose to lead with grace, respect, and gratitude until the very end.
She expressed appreciation to the Miss Philippines Earth Organization for entrusting her with a title that became more than just a crown, while encouraging supporters to continue backing the pageant’s environmental mission and the next queen who would carry it forward.
Although she revealed she would not be taking a farewell walk on stage, Barcoma said she believed a queen’s legacy is measured not by ceremonial moments but by the lives she has touched.
“Tonight, I may not have a farewell walk. But perhaps that is the greatest reminder that a legacy is never measured by the number of steps she takes on stage but by footprints she leaves in the lives of others,” she wrote.
Ending her message with hope and gratitude, Barcoma reminded everyone that advocacy does not end when a reign is over.
“I will always and forever be an Earth Queen,” she declared.
