Operatives of the Cainta Municipal Police Station arrested Rizal’s most wanted person for carnapping during a joint operation in Taytay, Rizal, on Monday morning.
The suspect, identified only as alias Mario, 53, a company driver and resident of Taytay, was apprehended around 10:15 AM in Barangay San Juan by the Cainta police’s warrant tracker team and the Provincial Highway Patrol Team-Rizal.
Alias Mario was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 6539, or the Anti-Carnapping Act, with a recommended bail of P180,000.
According to the investigation, the carnapping incident occurred in 2013 when the suspect allegedly took off with the taxi he was driving to Pasig City. He had been in hiding for more than a decade until police tracked him down.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Cainta Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition. A copy of the arrest warrant has been returned to the issuing court..
