CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Thirty-nine irrigators’ associations showcased their harvests and food products at a National Irrigation Administration exhibit here Thursday, 29 October, aimed at helping farmers reach more buyers.

Rice, vegetables, fruits and other local products were featured at the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program Exhibit at Rizal Coliseum.

Organized by NIA CALABARZON with partner government agencies, the exhibit coincided with the third-year Supervision, Monitoring, Evaluation and Support activity.

NIA CALABARZON Regional Director Roberto Dela Cruz said the agency’s assistance goes beyond supplying irrigation water to helping farmers find markets for their products.

He said exhibits under EPAHP provide opportunities for farmers to sell their harvests and expand their market reach.

During the opening, NIA Central Office Institutional Development Division Manager Martin Tacloban recognized CALABARZON for ranking first nationwide in EPAHP marketing agreements.

The region also placed third in total sales under the program, reaching P312.19 million, according to figures cited by Tacloban.

Also present were Engineering and Operations Division Manager Marinel Tobias and Executive Assistant Abel Landicho, who represented Calamba Mayor Rosseller Rizal, alongside NIA personnel and representatives of partner agencies.
