Cebu Pacific expands fleet with 15th A330neo

THE Airbus A330neo aircraft now make up 78 percent of Cebu Pacific’s jet fleet, with the airline aiming to operate an all-NEO jet fleet by 2030. These Airbus NEO aircraft burn 15 percent to 20 percent less fuel per flight than previous-generation aircraft, reducing carbon emissions. They also produce less noise.

Cebu Pacific (CEB) has taken delivery of its 15th Airbus A330neo, adding capacity for domestic and international operations while reducing its reliance on older, less fuel-efficient aircraft.

The budget airline said Saturday that the aircraft arrived in Manila on 10 October from Airbus’ facility in Toulouse, France.

The latest delivery, its fourth and first widebody this year, strengthens CEB’s position as Asia’s largest A330neo operator as it continues upgrading its fleet to improve operating efficiency and support its route network.

Important milestone

“The delivery of our 15th A330neo aircraft is an important milestone for Cebu Pacific as we continue to build a more modern fleet,” said Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer.

“The A330neo offers significant fuel savings compared to previous-generation aircraft and gives us the flexibility to serve different markets across and beyond the Philippines.”

CEB expects to receive a total of seven new-generation aircraft this year as it works toward operating an all-NEO jet fleet by 2030.

With the latest addition, newer-generation aircraft now account for 78 percent of its jet fleet.

Help CEB manage costs, particularly fuel expenses

The fleet upgrade is also expected to help the airline manage operating costs, particularly fuel expenses, which remain a major cost component for carriers.

According to Cebu Pacific, newer-generation aircraft consume 15 percent to 20 percent less fuel per flight compared with older models, allowing the airline to operate more efficiently while reducing carbon emissions and aircraft noise.

The continued shift to fuel-efficient aircraft gives CEB greater flexibility to deploy capacity across its network while supporting its long-term expansion plans.

CEB’s fleet

CEB currently operates 15 Airbus A330s, 27 Airbus A321s, 38 Airbus A320s and 20 ATR turboprop aircraft.

Its mix of widebody, narrowbody, and turboprop aircraft allows the airline to serve high-demand routes while maintaining connectivity to smaller domestic destinations.
