5 Reasons to see ‘Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger’ today

If “Wonderwall,” “Live Forever” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” still set your pulse racing, consider this your final, urgent wake-up call.

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger is wrapping up its exclusive three-day run across select SM Cinemas in the Philippines, and today — 13 September — is your absolute last chance to catch it on the big screen.

Documenting the Gallagher brothers’ historic comeback, this film is part victory lap, part masterclass in how two Manchester lads conquered the universe.

Here are five reasons you need to sprint to the theater today before the lights go down for good.

1. Who is Oasis, and why now?

Formed in Manchester, England, in 1991, Oasis was built around the notoriously volatile, effortlessly cool Gallagher brothers — Liam and Noel. They speared the 1990s Britpop wave, driving guitar music back to the center of global culture.

Their runaway 1994 debut, Definitely Maybe, smashed UK charts, while 1995’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? turned them into global rock gods. After selling over 100 million records, sibling rivalry exploded backstage in Paris in August 2009. Noel walked, ending the band for 15 bitter years. Their sudden reconciliation for the massive Oasis Live ’25 tour stunned the music world — making today’s big-screen look at their reunion essential viewing.

2. What’s the docu about?

Running at a tight, electrical 123 minutes, this isn’t a sanitized concert flick. The documentary embeds you right inside the Oasis Live ’25 storm with front-row access to backstage madness, raw stadium footage, intimate fan perspectives, and unseen rehearsal material.

Most crucially, it features Liam and Noel’s first joint interview in over two decades — a hilarious, surprisingly tender look at two brothers putting down their weapons to play 41 massive global shows for over two million fans.

3. Pedigree and Venice buzz

The film was directed by music docu veterans Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace (Shut Up and Play the Hits, Meet Me in the Bathroom), with a narrative framework crafted by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

The film landed its world premiere on 5 September at the prestigious 83rd Venice International Film Festival. It screened Out of Competition, but when Liam and Noel walked the carpet together, the screening reportedly erupted into an eight-minute standing ovation.

4. Philippine Screening Details

Today, 13 September, is the final day of the Philippine theatrical run. You can catch it at select SM Cinema locations, including SM Aura Premier, SM City North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM City Sta. Mesa, SM City Marikina, SM Southmall, SM City Baguio, SM City Cebu, SM Lanang Premier and SM City Iloilo.

Check local showtimes right now and head out early, because these anthems were built to be screamed in a dark room alongside a roomful of fanatical strangers.

5. Scores, songs and soundtrack

The musical lineup is stacked with timeless firepower: “Supersonic,” “Live Forever,” “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Champagne Supernova” and “Some Might Say.”

Supervised musically by Zebedee Budworth, the movie even closes out on Burt Bacharach’s “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” perfectly tying together its core themes of brotherhood and forgiveness. Critical buzz is sky-high, boasting a glowing 95 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes from 41 reviews.

Whether you’re a diehard parkas-and-tambourines veteran or a newcomer curious about the greatest rock circus of the ‘90s, this is pure cinematic magic. Today is the absolute finish line — don’t look back in anger, grab your tickets right now.
