CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A 15-hour cross-provincial manhunt ended with the arrest of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man in Bataan province, police said Sunday.
The shooting occurred Friday in Barangay Culis, located in the town of Hermosa, according to the Police Regional Office 3.
Following the attack, investigators launched a pursuit that tracked the suspect across provincial borders into neighboring Pampanga province. Authorities apprehended the suspect Saturday in Barangay San Juan in San Fernando.
Police recovered a loaded .30-caliber US Carbine rifle and a white passenger van believed to have been used in the crime.
The suspect and the seized property were transferred to the Hermosa Municipal Police Station. Police said investigators are preparing a murder complaint for filing in court.
Police Brigadier Gen. Jesus Mendez, the PRO-3 director, said the cross-border operation sends a clear warning to lawbreakers.
