Hope, Healing, and Friendship: Boy Abunda Shares a Glimpse of Kris Aquino’s Quiet Fight Back

For someone who has spent decades asking the country’s biggest stars the most difficult questions, Boy Abunda rarely turns emotional in public. But when the conversation shifts to his longtime friend Kris Aquino, the famed host speaks less like the “King of Talk” — and more like family.

After spending time with Aquino during her Valentine’s birthday celebration, Abunda revealed that the actress-host is showing encouraging signs in her ongoing battle with autoimmune illness.

“A lot stronger. Hindi napag-usapan weight niya. But I saw her before at 82 pounds. There was a time she messaged her weight has gone up to 114,” Abunda shared.

He admits that recovery remains a journey, not a destination — but the improvement is enough to spark hope.

“I hope she really gets better. Anything important in her life, she makes sure I am in the loop. Nag-uusap kami. Lalo na kay Bimb. Praying that she gets better.”

A Mother Surrounded by Devotion

Beyond physical health, what struck Abunda most was the unwavering presence of Aquino’s sons — particularly Bimby, whose quiet maturity moved him deeply.

“Bumigay ako noong nakita ko si Kris sa America when they were there. Bumigay ako when Bimby was in total control. Kinakarga ang nanay. Nililipat. ‘Is it ready for mom?’ — he was in control. I am proud of the boy and how Kris raised the boy.”

Meanwhile, Josh — often private — offers support in his own spiritual way.

“Si Josh naman, I was told he began the day leading the prayer and ending it with another prayer.”

Together, they form the protective circle around a woman who once carried an entire industry on her shoulders.

The Possibility of a Return — When the Time Is Right

Fans continue to wonder whether the iconic tandem of Abunda and Aquino could one day reunite onscreen. The host says the idea exists — but only after health comes first.

“Wala kami formal conversation about possible podcast. I am open if my contract allows. I look forward to doing materials with her.”

For now, the story isn’t about comeback headlines or ratings battles.

It is about friendship, patience, and survival.

In a world that watched Kris Aquino grow up in public — from political daughter to television queen — perhaps her most powerful chapter is the one unfolding quietly: healing, surrounded by family, and cheered on by the friend who knows her beyond the spotlight.
