Barbie Forteza wowed on the red carpet in an emerald green gown at the premiere of her latest film P77, held at SM North EDSA on 28 July. The star-studded event drew the likes of Jameson Blake, David Licauco, Jessica Soho, Alden Richards, and Atom Araullo, all eager to catch the psychological horror thriller produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs.
P77 marks Barbie’s first lead role in a full-length feature film. She is joined by an impressive cast that includes Firefly child star Euwenn Mikaell, screen veterans Jackielou Blanco, Carlos Siguion-Reyna, Gina Pareño, and Rosanna Roces, along with Chrome Cosio and JC Alcantara.
The film is directed by Derick Cabrido and comes from the same creative team behind the acclaimed Firefly, Green Bones, and the box-office hit Mallari. In P77, Barbie plays Luna, a former cruise ship chambermaid who, along with her younger brother Jonas (Mikaell), ends up in a creepy penthouse with dark secrets.
“Napaka-grounded ng story namin—umiikot siya sa pamilya. It also explores PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Bukod sa mga jumpscare, layunin din ng pelikula na magbigay kaalaman at mas palalimin pa ang pag-unawa natin sa mga taong may PTSD (Our story is very grounded—it’s about family. It also talks about PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Aside from the jump scares, the film also aims to raise awareness and help people better understand those who live with PTSD), ” Barbie said.
The film’s story is by Green Bones creators Anj Atienza and Kristian Julao, with a screenplay by award-winning writer Enrico Santos. P77 opens in cinemas nationwide today, 30 July, under Warner Bros. Pictures.
