The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Friday reported the arrest of a wanted swindler in a hotel in Pasay City.

CIDG officials disclosed that the suspect was arrested during a manhunt operation around 4:48 p.m. last Thursday conducted by the CIDG’s Anti-Organized Crime Unit at Marriott Hotel, Resorts Drive in Pasay City.

The suspect was identified as a certain “Simeon,” married and a resident of Doña Juana Subdivision, Barangay Rosario in Pasig City.

He was arrested under a Warrant of Arrest for Estafa issued by Regional Trial Court, Branch 160, Pasig City dated 22 July 2024, with P90,000 recommended bail.

Several complaints were lodged against the arrested suspect before the Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crimes for allegedly misrepresenting himself to the public.

The suspect claimed he could facilitate government projects and asking for 3 to 5 percent commission in advance to secure the project. He was also allegedly using the name of the first family in his dealings.

CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III warned law enforcement authorities that they have intensified their manhunt operations against all notorious individuals and fugitives across the country.

“Let this serve as a lesson to all those who use the name of the first family for personal gains. Please refrain from doing such acts,” Torre said.
