FPolice arrested a 21-year-old Chinese national Thursday morning after he allegedly assaulted a security guard and destroyed his property at the Mall of Asia (MoA) Complex in Pasay City.
The suspect, identified by police by his alias, “Wen,” is a Chinese tourist with no permanent address in the Philippines who was unable to produce identification documents.
According to an initial investigation, a female security guard requested assistance around 10:40 a.m. from a 49-year-old male guard to escort the suspect to the customer relations office.
Officers said the request was made to verify the suspect’s identity in connection with a prior theft report.
When the male guard approached the suspect near the fourth-floor MoA Sky football field, the suspect punched him in the face, fracturing his nose.
During the altercation, the suspect stepped on and broke the guard’s prescription eyeglasses before attempting to run away.
Nearby security personnel chased and restrained the suspect before handing him over to responding officers from Pasay City Police Sub-Station 10.
Authorities brought the suspect to the police station for documentation and medical examination.
