Two arrested, over two grams of suspected shabu seized in La Union


Two men were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Agoo and Naguilian, La Union, resulting in the confiscation of more than 2 grams of suspected shabu, police said.
In Agoo, a 47-year-old married man and resident of the municipality was arrested in an operation conducted late October 6 into the early hours of October 7.
Police said the operation, led by the Agoo Municipal Police Station with support from intelligence and mobile force units, resulted in the seizure of two heat-sealed sachets containing around 2 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P13,600.
Authorities also recovered a motorcycle glove containing buy-bust money, a cellphone, a Yamaha Nmax motorcycle, a knife and other items.
Meanwhile, a separate operation in Naguilian earlier October 6 resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old security guard and resident of the municipality.
Police said the operation, conducted by the Naguilian Municipal Police Station with intelligence units, led to the confiscation of five sachets containing around 0.42 grams of suspected shabu valued at P2,856.
Also seized were buy-bust and boodle money, six needles, aluminum foil, three cellular phones, lighters, a pair of scissors, improvised glass tooters with suspected shabu residue, a sling bag, a sunglasses case and a Rusi motorcycle.
Police said the suspects were arrested after the respective operations and that the seized items were marked and inventoried at the scene in the presence of the suspects and mandatory witnesses, as required by law.
The suspects are expected to face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
