The Department of Agriculture is pushing to strengthen the country’s Halal industry by expanding agricultural production and building a more reliable supply chain for Halal food.

The government sees the sector as a way to improve food security, raise farmers’ incomes and create new opportunities for MSMEs. Plans include boosting livestock and poultry production, developing Halal-compliant facilities and improving links between farmers, processors, retailers and exporters.

The goal is not just to produce more Halal food, but to ensure quality, consistency and enough supply for both Filipino consumers and export markets.
