  • The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) and the Philippine National Police Regional Office 1 (PRO-1) strengthened their coordination on the safety and security of journalists and media workers.

During a courtesy meeting and regional case conference Thursday, 27 August, at Camp Brig. Gen. Oscar M. Florendo in San Fernando City, La Union.

The discussions were led by PBGen Christopher T. Acop, PRO-1 deputy regional director for administration, on behalf of Regional Director PBGen Jovencio S. Badua Jr., along with PCol Emmanuel H. Reyes, deputy regional director for operations.

The conference focused on cases and concerns involving journalists and media workers in Region 1, as well as measures to improve coordination, information-sharing and response mechanisms in addressing threats and incidents involving members of the media.

The meeting underscored the need for close coordination between the PTFOMS and the PNP to help ensure the safety of journalists as they perform their role of informing the public.

The PTFOMS also thanked PRO-1 leadership and personnel for their cooperation and support in promoting the safety and security of media workers in the region.
