Actress Angel Locsin has broken her silence with a heartfelt open letter addressed to Senator Robin Padilla, urging her former colleague to reflect on the principles she believes once defined him.
In a Facebook post, Locsin recalled conversations they shared in the past, including Padilla’s stories about joining the armed struggle in the mountains to fight for the country. She said his recent remarks reminded her of the patriotic man she had long admired.
“At least, honest ka ngayon, Kuya,” she wrote, acknowledging what she described as his candor.
Locsin then raised a more personal concern, questioning why Padilla remained silent when she was repeatedly red-tagged despite knowing the accusations against her were false.
“Ang tanong ko lang, nasaan ka nung panahong nirered-tag ako kahit alam mong hindi totoo?” she wrote, adding that he had even associated with some of the people making those accusations.
The actress also challenged the senator’s priorities, saying many Filipinos had supported his Senate bid because they expected him to be a fearless advocate for the country’s Muslim community. She questioned why he appeared to be defending detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy instead.
Locsin went on to express disappointment over Padilla’s positions on issues involving China, saying they did not reflect the nationalist image she had come to respect.
“Hindi ito ang Robin Padilla na nakilala at hinangaan ko,” she said.
Despite her criticism, the actress ended her message on a hopeful note, reminding Padilla of their shared journey from humble beginnings to successful careers in entertainment. She stressed that their loyalty should remain with God and the Filipino people rather than any individual.
“Tama na, Kuya. Gising na. Hindi pa huli ang lahat,” Locsin concluded, directly appealing to the senator to reconsider his path.
