Barbie Imperial says working alongside Richard Gutierrez in Blood Vs Duty changed the way she approaches her craft, with the actress admitting she became more disciplined after seeing her co-star’s dedication behind the scenes.
Imperial shared that the action-drama marked the first time she closely followed every episode of a series she starred in. Watching Gutierrez carefully study every scene and every detail of the script inspired her to become more invested in her own performance.
“Actually, ito yung serye na sobrang tutok talaga ako, as in. It’s also my first serye na pinapanood ko bawat eksena, ‘yung bawat episode. I’ve learned it from Chard kasi siya sobrang lahat ng details ng nasa script, as in iniisa-isa niya talaga.”
She added that the experience taught her to give every role greater focus and commitment.
Gutierrez, in turn, praised Imperial for her professionalism and growth throughout the production. He said filming a television series demands long hours and intense schedules, making it important to have a dependable co-star.
“It was a great experience working with her on the set. It’s always good to have someone on your side na puwede mong lapitan or lean on ’pag may problema.”
The actor added that their teamwork, combined with the guidance of their directors, producers, and fellow cast members, made the experience both enjoyable and rewarding.
Beyond the set, the pair also revealed plans to celebrate Imperial’s upcoming birthday in a more meaningful way. Instead of throwing a lavish party, the actress will return to her hometown in Bicol to launch a charitable initiative for the small elementary school she once attended.
“Magbi-birthday na ako so pupunta kami ng Bicol… may binuo na lang kami ni Chard na charity para doon sa school ko noong grade school… naisip ko, why not spend for itong mga bata kasi nakakapagod na rin pumarty,” Barbie said.
The trip will also mark Gutierrez’s first visit to Imperial’s former school as they turn the actress’ birthday celebration into an opportunity to give back to the community that helped shape her.
