Long before Fyang Smith became one of the country’s fastest-rising young celebrities, someone had already seen the spark that would eventually captivate millions. Talent manager and entrepreneur Mannix Carancho believes her success today is the result of the same qualities she showed from the very beginning.
Carancho recalled first meeting Smith when she regularly visited his talent house, a creative space where aspiring artists produce digital content, undergo workshops, and develop their skills. As she spent more time in the environment, he became convinced that she possessed the charisma and potential to stand out.
“Nakitaan ko po siya ng potential. Talagang malayo ang mararating ng batang ito,” he said.
Now that Smith has become a household name, Carancho continues to defend her against critics who claim fame has changed her. According to him, the young actress remains the same respectful, kind-hearted, and hardworking person he first met.
“Kapag nakilala n’yo na siya, wala kang masasabing masama sa kanya,” he shared, adding that Smith has always been easy to work with and has never lost the humility that first impressed him.
Carancho has built a reputation for spotting promising talent before they reach mainstream success. Among the artists he previously helped launch are Miko Gallardo and Johannes Rissler, while his current roster includes several of the country’s most recognizable digital creators, including Miss Q&A 2026 grand finalist Andrea Lim, Zaidee Diaz, Chona Vibes, Riri Navarro, Merfect, and other online personalities.
For Carancho, managing digital creators is no different from developing traditional actors and actresses. He believes today’s influencers can successfully transition into film and television with proper guidance, discipline, and continuous training.
Beyond talent management, Carancho also heads the beauty brand Prestige International and has grown into one of the Philippines’ most influential digital entrepreneurs, attracting more than a million followers across social media platforms. Through his businesses and mentorship, he continues to nurture the next generation of entertainers—just as he did with Fyang Smith before the spotlight found her.
