The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) seized nearly ₱8.94 million worth of illegal drugs and accounted for 239 loose firearms in separate operations across the Ilocos Region from 1 to 30 June.
In a report released Thursday, PRO 1 said it conducted 152 anti-illegal drug operations during the month, leading to the arrest of 170 individuals and the seizure of illegal drugs with a total standard drug price of ₱8,940,267.60.
Confiscated during the operations were 1,043.17 grams of shabu, 134.76 grams of dried marijuana leaves, three marijuana sticks, and 9,152 marijuana plants.
Among the major operations were three marijuana eradication activities in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, where authorities uprooted and destroyed 9,150 marijuana plants valued at ₱1.83 million.
PRO 1 also carried out 29 operations against loose firearms, resulting in the accounting of 239 firearms and the arrest of 32 violators.
Of the firearms accounted for, 170 were voluntarily surrendered, 23 were confiscated, six were recovered, and 40 were deposited with authorities for safekeeping.
The regional police office said the operations were part of its continuing campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms, which it identified as major contributors to criminality in the region.
PRO 1 said it will sustain its anti-drug and anti-loose firearms operations as part of its law enforcement efforts to reduce crime and maintain peace and order across the Ilocos Region.
