BAGUIO CITY — A 28-year-old motorcycle rider died after being struck by a passenger bus along Magsaysay Avenue on Sunday afternoon, 22 February 2026.
The victim, a resident of San Luis Village, Baguio City, and a native of Bauko, Mountain Province, sustained severe injuries after the collision.
Police said both the motorcycle and the bus were traveling toward the city center when the accident occurred. Initial investigation showed that the motorcycle reportedly ran over a small hole in the road, causing the rider to lose balance and fall onto the roadway.
The bus driver, a 39-year-old resident of Tadian, Mountain Province, originally from Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, was traveling behind the motorcycle and was unable to brake in time, striking the fallen rider.
The impact resulted in severe physical injuries and significant blood loss.
A Baguio City health officer confirmed that the victim died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries and excessive bleeding.
Police have yet to confirm whether the bus driver has been placed under arrest as investigation into the incident continues.
