IG-worthy or newsworthy?

Ex-actress Ellen Adarna’s rant against her suddenly estranged husband, ex-actor Derek Ramsay, is a signal to all of us, avid followers of Pinoy showbiz, never to get carried away by Instagram postings of jolly, if occasionally erotic, photos of even a legitimately married couple like Adarna and Ramsay. 

The whole time Adarna was posting those fabulous photos of their enviable romance, Ramsay had been keeping a “side chick,” Adarna confided at the beginning of her now self-serialized tirade against the now estranged husband. 

Ramsay is not only “estranged” now but also strange. He seems to have voluntarily left his own house when he sensed that his wife has found out about his (alleged) kept woman somewhere in the country. Adarna was staying there with their first child, baby girl Lili, and, most likely, Adarna’s son Elias, 7, whose father is ex-actor John Lloyd Cruz. (Adarna has been avoiding showing off her children in her rants against her allegedly unfaithful husband, seemingly knowing she could be accused of exploiting her children to win public sympathy for her being a victim of unfaithfulness.) 

Actually, through their Instagram posted photos of their sizzling romance as a couple, Ramsay easily projected the image of an ever faithful husband. (He actually has a better reputation than his wife as an actor.) Those photos give out the impression that Ramsay is already a very well-off man he does not leave the house at all to earn money to maintain the house and the wife so he has all the time in the world to hang out with Adarna for all those loving, carousing photos they post on their respective Instagram. 

 But their happy days together are over. Adarna has since been posting snippets of “resibo” to support her claim about Ramsay’s having a “side chick.” They are supplied to her by some people whom she feels truly care for her — despite their having shown that caring belatedly. Adarna has confided to the public that those “caring” folks had always known about the existence of Ramsay’s “side cheek” even before she (Adarna) became his girlfriend. But they told her about it only about some two or three weeks ago. 

Theirs was a whirlwind romance that began when they discovered  about three years ago that they live in the same upscale subdivision somewhere in Metro Manila. It was actress Ruffa Gutierrez who introduced them to each other since Ruffa and her daughters live in the same village. 

Ramsay has actually admitted that yes, he has a “side chick” “who has never been his girlfriend. But Adarna doesn’t want us to hear the end of it. She seems determined to provide the public free entertainment in between those airing from the Senate and from the palace along the Pasig River. A sister of the palace’s main occupant has also began to sing arias about an alleged chronic vice of her brother, the brother’s wife, and their children.
