South Korean actor Kim Ji Soo is making waves once again on Philippine primetime television—this time as a cold-blooded assassin in the gripping action drama Sanggang-Dikit FR, opposite Kapuso power couple Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado.
The former Black Rider star is no stranger to Philippine audiences, but this new role takes a sharp turn from his previous portrayals. In Black Rider, Ji Soo played a character driven by righteousness; in Sanggang-Dikit FR, he embraces the darkness.
“In Black Rider, it was kind of a good guy, he protects someone. But here… he’s the opposite of justice. He kills for money. He’s totally a bad guy,” Ji Soo said in an interview with GMA News.
Despite his villainous role, Ji Soo has found camaraderie and comfort with his Filipino castmates — especially with Dennis Trillo, whom he described as “professional, sweet, and kind of funny.”
“He’s a good actor and really professional. We have a good time on set,” Ji Soo added.
For Dennis, who leads the cast as the titular Sanggang, working with a Korean actor was initially daunting—but rewarding.
“Noong una, siyempre medyo naiilang ako kasi sanay siya sa ibang sistema. Pero nung nakagawa na kami ng mga eksena, ang kulit din pala niya. Naka-adapt siya agad sa sistema natin dito sa paggawa ng teleserye,” Dennis shared.
Their on-screen intensity is already captivating viewers, but off-screen, the two are plotting something more lighthearted—TikTok videos. Yes, fans might just see Sanggang and the assassin dancing on the Kapuso feed soon.
Sanggang-Dikit FR airs weeknights at 8:50 PM on GMA Prime, following Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre. Viewers can also stream episodes online via Kapuso Stream on YouTube.
