Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon ordered the deployment of free transportation services for students affected by the closure of an access road that passes through South Green Heights Village.

This comes after the South Green Heights Homeowners Association (HOA) decided to officially shut down the access road leading to Korokan on 1 July over concerns about security, traffic congestion, and cleanliness.

The road has long been used as a shortcut by students and staff of the Muntinlupa National High School (MNHS) and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun).

In a statement on Wednesday, Biazon acknowledged the disruption caused by the closure, especially to commuting students. City government vehicles were dispatched to provide transport to affected students under the “Libreng Hatid Serbisyo” initiative.

The Muntinlupa mayor emphasized, however, that the city is pursuing a long-term solution through negotiations with the South Green Heights HOA and the Bureau of Corrections.

“We understand the concerns of the HOA regarding cleanliness, safety, and order in their village, but we also firmly believe that public access must be properly addressed, especially for young people on their way to school,” Biazon said in Filipino.

Talks remain ongoing, with the city working toward what Biazon described as a “fair and just solution for everyone.”
