A 45-year-old tricycle driver was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, on Friday night.

Police identified the suspect as alias Jess, a resident of the barangay.

At about 10:15 p.m., patrolling officers responded to a telephone report from a concerned citizen about an armed man allegedly roaming a residential area in PNR Site, Purok 2, causing panic among residents.

The officers proceeded to the area to verify the report and spotted alias Jess inside a makeshift dwelling. They arrested him and recovered a .38-caliber revolver with a defaced serial number loaded with two live rounds.

The suspect failed to present documents authorizing him to possess or carry the firearm.

Police brought him to the Investigation and Detective Management Section of the Muntinlupa City Police Station for documentation and preparation for inquest proceedings for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
