ZAMBOANGA CITY — Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido has formally installed Brigadier General Donald M. Gumiran as commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, which is tasked with maintaining peace and security in Central and South-Central Mindanao.

Gumiran officially assumed command of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division during the 43rd Change of Command Ceremony, held at the 6th ID Grandstand in Camp Siongco, Awang in Datu Odin Sinsuat municipality, Maguindanao del Norte.

Lt. Gen Galido presided over the ceremonial turnover of leadership from Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, who has been designated as Commander of the AFP-Western Mindanao Command based in Zamboanga City.

In his address, Brig. Gen. Gumiran expressed his gratitude to the Armed Forces of the Philippines for entrusting him with the leadership of the 6th ID.

“As I assume command, I commit to lead by example and working closely with all of you to fulfill our mission,” he said.

Malacañang, meantime, appointed BGen. Michele Anayron Jr., former commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade, as the new commander of the 4th ID, whose installation through a fitting ceremony today, 28 January, vice BGen. Consolito Yecla, the acting commander of the 4th Infantry Division.

The appointment order, signed and approved by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., was reportedly effective 20 January.

BGen. Anayron has been the 403rd brigade commander, at Camp Osito Bahian, Malaybalay City, since 23 January 2023.
