It'll be Christmas in less than a week. If you're still clueless on what to get your golfing loved one, family member, colleague, or friend, here are a few ideas (and a rough budget estimate):

Under P1,000

Drew a golfer for exchange gift at a Christmas party? There's no need to spend a fortune to get a gift that will surely be appreciated. While golf can be expensive, there are still a few items that are necessities for golfers that are within budget.

Sunblock — A good sunblock should cost in the P600-P1,000 range.

Gloves — This might be trickier because of the sizing but any golfer would appreciate a new pair.

Golf sleeves — These arm protectors are very popular with golfers. Any additional protection from the sun is a welcome addition.

Tees — We use a lot of these so some more wouldn't hurt.

Under P10,000

At this price, it'll probably a gift for a boss, a parent, a sibling, or a really good friend. There are far more options at this price range, so choosing should be easier.

Golf shirts — There are quite a number of brands at this price range. In case you are totally clueless, brands like Under Armour, Nike and Adidas are safe bets and should be available most malls. A little less common but with nice golf shirts too, are Penguin. Popular higher-end brands like J.Lindberg, RLX, Hugo Boss should be much appreciated. For quirkier dressers, there's also Loudmouth.

Golf shoes — Who wouldn't want a nice pair of new golf shoes? While top models usually cost around P10,000 to P15000, there are still nice pairs for under P10,000.

Golf balls — These would probably be the most appreciated gift since we golfers use up our fair share of balls. A box of 12 can cost over 4,000, but there are cheaper ones. Unless you know the skill level of the golfer you intend to gift balls with, I suggest to give the premium models from Titleist, Callaway, Taylormade, Srixon or Bridgestone.

Other apparel — Hats, belts, pants, dresses, shorts, waterproof jackets, the list goes on.

Over P10,000

If your husband/wife has been really nice this year, or if you want to gift your parent something really special, then cost won't be too much of an issue. There can be an infinite number of gift ideas over P10,000 but in my opinion, these are items that are still reasonable and more importantly, will bring a smile to the recipient.

Putter — Expect to spend anywhere from P15,000-P40,000 for a nice putter. Just make sure the shop allows exchanges in case the recipient wants a different model.

Driver — New drivers usually go for P30,000-P40,000. Like putters, make sure these can be exchanged.

Golf GPS watch or Rangefinder — These are used to measure distances on the course and are used by golfers for almost every shot they take. Garmin, Bushnell, Golf Buddy and Nikon are just some of the more popular brands.

Iron set — These will cost P50,000 and up but if you know the golfer well enough, you might get an idea of what she/he would want. Asking golf buddies might help.

Golf cart — If money is no object, then why not get him/her a golf cart. What's P400,000 compared to a most memorable gift? There are a number of choices, but among the most popular are EZGO, Clubcar and Yamaha. Newer brands like Grandsportivo and Get Go are also being seen in a number of courses all over the country.

Golf holiday — This can be as simple as a trip out of town or as extravagant as a game at world-famous courses. Memories last more than nice things so this would be a great gift.

Golf membership — Well, this would be the ultimate golf gift. It'll most probably cost a million at least, but if you've got the cash, why not?!

MY WISHLIST

Just in case my wife gets to accidentally read my article this week, here's what I want for Christmas:

Golf passes. Unlimited. That's it.
