Police arrested a Chinese businessman and a Filipina employee Monday following a raid on a warehouse in Bocaue, Bulacan, where authorities seized P800,000 worth of alleged counterfeit rice sacks.

The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Bulacan Provincial Field Unit, local police and representatives from Goldman Sack Manufacturing Corp. at a facility in Barangay Batia under a search warrant for intellectual property violations.

Law enforcement agents confiscated 101 bundles containing 80,800 rice sacks bearing unauthorized trademarked brands.

CIDG officials said the two suspects were taken into custody for storing, possessing, and trading the packaging materials without the permission of the registered trademark owner.

The suspects face charges before the National Prosecution Service for unfair competition and copyright infringement under Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
