Counterfeit food ingredients seized

Authorities seized nearly P5.95 million worth of counterfeit food ingredients during a joint operation at a warehouse in Barangay General T. de Leon in Valenzuela City.
The 10:30 a.m. raid was led by police Col. Joseph Talento, staff from the Business Permit and Licensing Office, and representatives of the company whose products were being illegally copied.
Inside the warehouse, the team discovered 1,279 boxes of counterfeit food ingredients with an estimated total value of P5,949,200.
The seized goods were turned over to police custody for legal verification, disposal and eventual destruction.
Police Maj. Randy Llanderal, assistant chief of police for operations, said officers invited two Chinese nationals found inside the facility to assist in the investigation to determine their involvement and identify the supplier.
Authorities stated that legal charges will be filed against the warehouse owner and anyone involved in producing the counterfeit goods, particularly if tests show the ingredients are harmful to consumer health.
