The Philippine Army’s 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion hosted a delegation from the Royal Thai Army on Wednesday at its headquarters in Tarlac province to strengthen military relations and share expertise on armored vehicle operations.

Col. Panachai Painak, director of the Royal Thai Army Cavalry Center’s Education Division, led the visiting group during the engagement at Sitio Pugo, Barangay Burgos.

The visit featured operational briefings and a static display showcasing the battalion’s armored vehicles and capabilities.

Discussions focused on unit organization, training protocols, staff functions and mechanized warfare tactics.

Thai military officials also observed the service’s Sabrah light tanks. The Philippine Army expects to receive the remainder of its Sabrah fleet from Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems by the end of the year under the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Program.

The Sabrah fleet includes tracked light tanks built on the ASCOD 2 chassis and wheeled vehicles on the Pandur II chassis.
