Following Bonifacio's initial call, General Mariano Llanera and around 3,000 revolutionaries targeted the Spanish strongholds in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, from September 2 to 5, 1896. This act secured Nueva Ecija’s historic placement as one of the eight rays of the sun on the Philippine flag.
