The Unang Sigaw ng Nueva Ecija is a historical revolution that happened from 2 to 5 of September in 1896 against the invading Spaniards. The said event triggered the Himagsikang Pilipino in Central Lzon, followed by the historical Sigaw ng Pugad Lawin in Manila.
Due to the important contributions of the event in achieving peace in the country, Nueva Ecija was recognized as one of the rays of the sun in the Philippine Flag, symbolizing the first provinces who rebelled against the Spaniards.
