A 26-year-old man was apprehended following a prompt response to a victim's call for help and a subsequent pursuit of two suspects allegedly involved in a theft near the PNR footbridge at Bicutan Interchange, Barangay San Martin de Porres, Parañaque City on Friday morning.

At around 6:40 a.m, a 39-year-old female security guard was walking along the footbridge when she noticed two men allegedly following her. One of the suspects reportedly grabbed her cellphone and wallet, prompting her to shout for help and pursue the fleeing suspects.

Police personnel conducting patrol operations in the area immediately noticed the commotion and joined the pursuit. One suspect fled toward Sitio De Asis and managed to escape, while the other reportedly jumped from the footbridge and ran toward Bicutan Market.

The responding officers continued the pursuit and eventually cornered and apprehended the 26-year-old suspect. A subsequent search reportedly resulted in the recovery of an improvised firearm loaded with one live round, as well as the victim's cellphone, wallet, and debit card.

The recovered cellphone was valued at approximately P8,000, while the other personal belongings were positively identified by the victim as her property.

The suspect's 25-year-old male companion remains at large, and follow-up operations are underway to locate and apprehend him.

The arrested suspect and recovered evidence were turned over to the investigating unit for proper documentation and the filing of appropriate complaints for theft and alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
