Nearly eight years after its release, Kyle Echarri’s “Pangako” is finding a new audience online, with the 2018 track landing at no. 94 on this week’s Billboard Philippines Hot 100.
The dance-pop song has recently gained traction on TikTok, where users have incorporated it into dance challenges and lyric-video edits, helping bring the track back into the spotlight.
Echarri acknowledged the song’s unexpected resurgence in a post on X, thanking listeners for returning to a track that was released in 2018.Some praised “Pangako” for remaining relevant years after its initial release, while others called on the singer-actor to put out another album.
Echarri first gained widespread recognition as a contestant on the second season of The Voice Kids Philippines. He released his self-titled album in 2018, with “Pangako” among its tracks.
The song was written by Gabriel Tagadtad, with Theo Martel handling the arrangement and StarPop head Roque “Rox” Santos serving as producer. Echarri performed the track live for the first time at the 2018 MYX Music Awards at the Araneta Coliseum.
“Pangako” has also accumulated more than 23 million plays on Spotify, while its official music video has surpassed 14 million views on YouTube.
