DAVAO CITY — The Hot August Races (HAR) is looking to draw at least 100 entries when it stages its 32nd edition from 21 to 23 August at the Ciudades Development Corporation grounds in Mandug here.
HAR race coordinator Fritz Tan said all eyes will be on Vanni Garcia and Team W-Autosports Racing as they challenge the racers from Visayas and Mindanao in this prestigious event that is dubbed as the city’s longest legal drag race.
Tan added that tipped to give Garcia a run for his money are local drag racing teams like Classic of Kyle and Gary Dumbrique, Ground Image of Elben Pang, West Ridge Racing’s Don-don Medija and Peter Sia of Team 1.3 Garage.
“The scheduled ⅛ mile legal drag racing event is expecting entries from Luzon led by Vanni Garcia and Team W-Autosports Racing and other entries from Visayas and Mindanao,” Tan said during the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association Forum last Thursday.
From its original two-day schedule, this year’s edition that is presented by the Davao Classic and Sports Car Club Incorporated and Prime Lube Singapore Premium Affordable Oils will have a special day for all drag diesel entries which will be held on the opening day on 21 August.
There will also be time trial runs for Class A, B and C that will be held on succeeding days and will run the Class C division race proper on 22 August. The final day will feature Classes A and B and the Quick 8.
Race director Raniel Laure also advised all racers to wear safety measures such as helmets and H-type seatbelts during the races.
