The Marcos administration’s livelihood program Bawat Barangay Makikinabang (BBM) had delivered P7 billion to 34,800 barangays nationwide, the President reported during his visit to Datu Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte for the kick-off of the program at the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Wednesday.

Of the P17 billion, each barangay received P200,000; P100,000 of which is allocated for educational assistance, while the remaining P100,000 is designated for key priorities identified by local communities.

Enduring BARMM partnership

Marcos, during his speech, reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the national government and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, saying their shared commitment to peace, inclusive development, and mutual trust is helping build a more prosperous Philippines.

The President said the partnership is anchored on responsibility and a common vision of ensuring the well-being and dignity of every Filipino.

“As we gather here today, we reaffirm the enduring partnership between the national and the Bangsamoro governments. One anchored on mutual trust, shared responsibility and a firm commitment to our people,” President Marcos said.

“Together, we are advancing a shared vision of a more peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Philippines, guided by the belief that the strength of our nation rests on the well-being and dignity of every Filipino,” the President added.

Complementing the initiative are the frontline services being delivered by the Bangsamoro Government.

“In fact, there are 15 BARMM ministries and offices here — led by the Office of the Chief Minister — that will turn over various assistance for at least a thousand of your local beneficiaries,” President Marcos said.

While the government acknowledges the significant progress achieved through the partnership between the national government and the Bangsamoro Government, the President said: “We recognize that our shared task of building a peaceful, stable and prosperous Bangsamoro continues.”

With this, President Marcos said the government has enacted amendments to the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the territorial composition of the BARMM, which provide the necessary legal and administrative adjustments to ensure an orderly, credible and inclusive electoral process.

The President noted that, consistent with the BOL, the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections were rescheduled to the second Monday of September 2026, which provides the BARMM Government sufficient time to implement the Court’s decision while upholding the autonomy and democratic aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
