Beneath the idyllic, snow-dusted luxury of the Swiss Alps lies a sharp, hidden reality of migrant labor—one that will soon take center stage in Manila.
Fresh from its world premiere at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival, Dominik Locher’s latest feature, Enjoy Your Stay, is set to kick off the 22nd Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.
Penned by Honeylyn Joy Alipio and presented by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) alongside Belgium's Be For Films, the drama follows Luz, an undocumented Filipina working in a high-end ski resort. Through her eyes, the film strips away the glamour of luxury tourism to expose the precarious lives of overseas workers. The narrative closely mirrors this year’s festival theme, Cinemalaya 22: Reel Reflections, which spotlights cinema as a mirror to the human condition.
Mercedes Cabral leads the cast that includes Anna Luna, Irma Adlawan, Donna Cariaga, Hasmine Kilip, and Madeleine Nicolas. FDCP Chairman and CEO Jose Javier Reyes praised the film’s critical acclaim in Berlin, noting that the standing ovations proved once again that Filipina screen talents are undeniably world-class.
Audiences can catch the free Philippine premiere on 6 August, at 7:30 PM at Red Carpet Cinemas 1 & 2, Shangri-La Plaza. Following its festival debut, the film will also join the FDCP Presents lineup to bring more globally celebrated cinema to local moviegoers.
