Police arrested five heavily armed men after the suspects allegedly used a fake arrest warrant to launch a violent home invasion in Barangay Concepcion Dos in Marikina City.
The suspects, who masqueraded as law enforcement officers, were caught inside the residential compound by responding teams from the Marikina City Police Station.
Authorities identified the arrested primary suspects as alias Ahorn, alias Don-Don, alias Oryong, alias Ric and alias Beshir. The first four are residents of Nueva Ecija and Isabela provinces.
Another suspect, identified only as Lloyd, and three unidentified cohorts escaped the scene and remain the targets of a police manhunt.
Investigators said the armed group forced their way into the residence while the homeowners and their household staff were resting.
The suspects presented three falsified copies of an arrest warrant, claiming they were conducting a legitimate police operation against one of the residents.
Once inside, the gang systematically cut the home’s WiFi connection and destroyed the security cameras.
They then bound the occupants with plastic cable ties and duct tape, holding them at gunpoint while ransacking the house for electronics, luxury watches, cash and gold jewelry.
Despite being tied up, one of the victims managed to use a mobile phone to discreetly send a distress signal to the local police while the suspects were destroying the security infrastructure.
Officers from Police Sub-Station 8 arrived at the scene and cornered the suspects inside the perimeter, taking them into custody without further incident.
