SUV crash kills 1, injures 4

A 65-year-old woman died and four others were injured Saturday morning after a sports utility vehicle plowed into a group of residents in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, police reported.
Investigators said a 71-year-old driver was traveling home to Antipolo City with two passengers when the SUV allegedly suffered brake failure around 8:37 a.m.
Security camera footage showed the victim sitting outside a residential home as the speeding vehicle approached.
Unable to move out of the way in time, she was struck alongside a 48-year-old female pedestrian walking nearby. The video also showed bystanders fleeing as the vehicle lurched forward and backward immediately following the initial impact.
The 65-year-old victim was initially rushed to the Rizal Provincial Hospital System Taytay Annex. Because the facility lacked a CT scanner, she was transferred to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina, where doctors declared her dead on arrival from severe head trauma.
