Cainta, Rizal Mayor Keith Nieto has ordered the apprehension of motorcycle riders who use sidewalks in Ortigas Avenue as this could pose a severe endanger to pedestrians.
Nieto issued such order as some riders are using sidewalks to bypass traffic, thus forcing pedestrians to walk into dangerous roadways.
"Junsky Balboa, apprehend all motorcycles going up on the sidewalks along Ortigas Avenue," Nieto said.
"I made that [sidewalks] for pedestrians. That was not made for riders. They are going to hit people," the mayor added, noting that there is no discount on penalties.
Meanwhile, the local government of Cainta has been constructing security outposts and gate booms for the small villages to boost security measures in the town.
"Small villages in Cainta often lack the funds to set up a security outpost and gate booms at their entrances," Nieto said.
"Starting this year, the municipality will be the one to build it for them, properly measured, well-arranged, with a washroom, a septic tank, lighting, and water supply," the mayor added.
