The government fund increased by P18.38 million after the Bureau of Customs-Manila International Container Port (BOC-MICP) sold 21 40-foot containers of wood-free paper in a public auction.

The auction was conducted as part of the Port's ongoing efforts to ensure that the cargoes under Customs custody are utilized effectively.

Instead of remaining idle, these were converted into additional funds that can be used for public programs and services.

BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno emphasized that ensuring the shipments in its custody are properly managed and used for the public's welfare is an important part of the Bureau's mandate.

Meanwhile, District Collector Atty. Felipe Geoffrey De Vera IV stated that the successful auction demonstrates the continuous efforts of the BOC-MICP to keep cargo management at the port orderly, efficient, and compliant with the law.

This auction is in line with the BOC-MICP's ongoing commitment to generate additional funding for the government.

In total, the MICP has already collected P35,047,147 million from its public auctions this year, demonstrating its contribution to efficient cargo management and revenue generation for the nation.
