The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) ordered police units across Metro Manila to coordinate with local social welfare offices and take appropriate action against individuals allegedly soliciting money by falsely claiming that donations are intended for children under protective custody.

NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano directed all concerned police units to intensify monitoring verify reported incidents, identify those responsible, and pursue appropriate legal action whenever warranted by the evidence.

The directive follows a warning from the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office that it has not authorized any private individual to solicit money, fares, donations, or other financial assistance for children under protective custody.

The NCRPO likewise called on the public to exercise caution and verify directly with the concerned social welfare office before giving money or other assistance to individuals claiming to raise funds for children under government protection.

Abrahano also encouraged the public to report suspicious solicitations to the nearest police station or local authorities.

"Your vigilance can help protect vulnerable children and prevent others from being victimized by fraudulent appeals for assistance,” the NCRPO chief added.
