  • The Quezon City government announced on Wednesday that it will provide necessary assistance to the bereaved family of a 7-year-old child who drowned in Dario Creek.

"The city government is already coordinating to provide the necessary assistance, including burial assistance, financial assistance for the hospitalization expenses, livelihood assistance for the child's parents, and psychosocial support for the family," the city government said in a statement.

The 7-year-old child reportedly fell into the Dario Creek in Barangay Bahay Toro in Quezon City at around 6:00 p.m. on Monday and was found dead along the San Juan River in Barangay Apolonio Samson on Tuesday morning.

According to the city government, the search and rescue team of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) immediately responded in the drowning incident, together with the Philippine Coast Guard, the Quezon City Fire District, and barangay personnel.

"The local government deeply mourns the death of the 7-year-old child who fell into Dario Creek in Barangay Bahay Toro," the Quezon City government said, following the recovery of the child's body the following day.
