A 48-year-old regional-level most wanted person was arrested in a manhunt operation in Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, on Tuesday afternoon.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Rom,” was apprehended by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the San Mateo Regional Trial Court Branch 175 for murder, with no bail recommended.
Police said the suspect had long been wanted in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on 9 January 2022, in Barangay San Rafael, Rodriguez, where a construction worker was shot dead by an unidentified assailant.
Investigators later identified “Rom” as the primary suspect in the killing, prompting the filing of a murder case against him.
The suspect is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station.
"The arrest of a regional-level most wanted person is a testament to the Rizal PPO's continuous and serious campaign against criminality," Rizal police provincial director P/Col. Feloteo Gonzalgo said.
"We will not stop until those involved in serious crimes and threats to the peace of our communities are held accountable under the law," the Rizal PNP chief added.
