Theatre actor Nic Chien, child of Broadway icon Lea Salonga, marked a powerful milestone in his journey of self-affirmation after sharing a topless photo on social media — his first since undergoing top surgery. The post, released in time for Transgender Awareness Week, quickly resonated online, drawing support from followers who praised his honesty, strength, and vulnerability.
“Been waiting to heal enough to post a nice looking picture of myself. The healing process was brutal! But worth it,” Nic wrote, reflecting on the emotional and physical steps that led him to this moment. His message, simple but profound, speaks to the resilience of living authentically and embracing one’s identity despite the challenges that come with transition.
With his post, Nic not only celebrated his personal victory but also lent his voice to a global movement honoring transgender stories, visibility, and empowerment. Through his openness, he continues to inspire many — proving that the journey toward becoming oneself is always, in his own words, “worth it.”
