Newly installed Officer-in-Charge Director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Angelito Magno, vowed to focus on current hot issues that directly affect Filipinos.
“The entire executive and government forces are ready to address their grievances regarding allegations of corruption,” Magno said in an interview with DZRH Damdaming Bayan on Tuesday morning.
Magno explained that the bureau is at the forefront of investigating the flood control scandal and alleged ghost projects linked to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Another thing to follow is accountability,” he added.
Magno was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday morning, following the resignation of Judge Jimmy Santiago last August.
Aside from continuing the cases left by Santiago, Magno said the NBI will also focus on investigating agricultural smuggling.
He expressed gratitude to the President and former Justice Secretary, now Ombudsman, Jesus Crispin Remulla, for the trust given to him to lead the bureau.
On Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO), Magno said the NBI will be releasing updates from time to time.
