A barangay kagawad and his partner were killed while another man was injured in a brazen daylight shooting in Barangay 21, San Agustin, San Nicolas, Sunday afternoon.
Police reports show that the incident was reported at around 2:35 PM. The victims were identified as Joshua Bernardo, 26, a barangay kagawad and resident of the same barangay, who died on the spot; Eloisa Pagaduan Bonilla, 30, who was declared dead on arrival at Black Nazarene Hospital; and Mark John Bernardo, 25, who suffered a gunshot wound on the thigh and is currently confined at a hospital.
Initial investigation revealed that the victims were having a meal at the porch of their residence when two men on a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle without plate number, both wearing black shirts, arrived and opened fire. The suspects immediately fled northward after the shooting.
Barangay Chairman Pete Duldulao said the slain kagawad had not reported receiving any threats prior to the incident.
Police investigators are continuing their follow-up operations to identify and apprehend the suspects, as well as determine the motive behind the attack.
